The INTEGRIstick™ is a unique patented product developed by 2H Offshore. It is specifically suited for riser fatigue monitoring where the response is bending dominated. Typical applications are on the touch down section of an SCR or the taper joint of a top tensioned riser.
The INTEGRIstick™ is strapped to the outside diameter of the riser pipe over the top of corrosion and insulation coatings. The stick measures the change in riser curvature in 2 planes, allowing local bending stress to be determined and hence fatigue damage rate.
The INTEGRIstick™ has high accuracy, typically achieving 2 microstrain resolution. This capability is essential for measuring response due to day-to-day current profiles and waves that contribute significantly to damage accumulation.
The device is ultra low power and designed to interface directly with an INTEGRIpod™ for stand alone or online recording. Additionally, the stick may
be connected to an ROV retrievable INTEGRIpod™ using a wet mateable ROV
connection allowing the INTEGRIpod™ to be removed and replaced while leaving
the stick connected to the riser.
Uniquely, the INTEGRIstick™ is fully sealed and pressure balanced allowing application at depths in excess of 3000m. It is manufactured from highly corrosion resistant materials and can be fitted to the riser in a matter of minutes. When fitted with a compact GRP fairing the arrangement provides a highly reliable and robust method for measuring riser bending stresses.
