Top-Tensioned Risers

2H Offshore has unrivalled experience in the design, analysis and specification of dry tree production and drilling riser systems for Spar, TLP, Barge and deep draft production vessels. Our experience is built on the design and procurement of TLP riser systems for the North Sea and the detail design of Spar riser systems for the Gulf of Mexico.

We engineer single casing and dual casing systems and include the specification of all hardware from the subsea wellhead to the surface tree and connection to the production manifold. This requires a multidiscipline system design approach.

Designs for a range of tensioning systems have been developed including aircan, hydropneumatic, syntactic buoyancy and tension deck systems. The complex interaction between the riser and the hull is understood and advanced analysis methodologies are developed to correctly model these.

The hardware packages for top tensioned risers are numerous and it is the correct optimization and integration of these packages that achieves a successful design. This requires a sound understanding of manufacturing issues and of operational requirements including the complex wellbay and derrick substructure configuration.

Top tensioned production risers use threaded connections for riser joints and this is an area of particular experience for 2H Offshore in both welded on and threaded and coupled designs.
